1) Charged with a Sex Crime
- There are many types of sex crimes in New York state
- Sex crimes range from misdemeanors to felonies
- You will usually be placed on a sex offender registry
2) Registering as a Sex Offender in New York
- If you have been convicted of a sex crime in New York State, you must register as a sex offender.
- Exceptions, such as forcible touching, which is a Class A misdemeanor, do not require registration.
- Forcible touching is related to contact with a sexual or intimate part of another person – whether above or below their clothing – such as squeezing, pinching, or slapping a person’s intimate or sexual areas.
3) Failing to Register as a Sex Offender
- If you don’t register as a sex offender you can be charged with additional crimes
4) Being Labeled as Sex Offender After an Arrest for Prostitution
- You will not be put on a sex offender list if you are charged with patronizing a prostitute.
5) Arrested for Hiring a Prostitute
- Patronizing a prostitute is a criminal charge
